About their Name: Its a translation of their name in their language which is never taught to outsiders. They are also called Star Children, The Star-eyed, or the Wise Ones.
It is unknown if they are truly native to Brighthaven but the one native species tends to consider them so.
They are an alpine, mostly nocturnal, species. They are capable of reproduction at the age of 15-16 but usually don't until well after they become an adult at age 18. They have a menstrual cycle but it's every year or so (sometimes every few years, especially as they age). Lifespan is unknown presumed immortal... they usually "merge with the stars" whenever they get tired of life (it's nothing active, they just fade away) but can also be killed. No major illnesses. Some of them can catch illnesses from their father's species but they're usually much milder.
After binding everyone at the end of the Mage War, all Daughters have a fated mate which is the only way they can reproduce (although they can and do take other lovers, usually women). These children are always female and tend to take after their mom. Before then they reproduced via parthenogenesis. Most daughters only have one or two children in their lives.
Food is complicated: they originally ate starlight solely but, ever since the binding, they have been able to eat the food of their father's lines as well. As such most are omnivorous, although starlight still makes up a large portion of their diet. Starlight can be absorbed or collected via a secret process into starflakes. These starflakes are also used for bartering (other species can't eat them but they can use them in magic).
Daughters are 4'9" to 5'3" as adults and they tend to be skinny with small breasts and hips. Their limbs are longer proportionate to their bodies when compared to humans, although this can change depending on their father's blood. Their ears tend to look like their fathers ears; ie finned if their dad's a mer, animal-like for shifter, pointed for elves etc.
Their wings are larger than their body is. This can get awkward so they all know how to tuck their wings away on another plane of existence. Feathers are the same color as their hair and eyes with silver edges. Usually they are shaped like a falcon's wings but can be hawk or eagle like.
They have pale silvery glowing skin. If they have freckles they tend to be a darker silver. Hair color is black, blue, or purple and adults have silvery streaks that get wider as they age. Texture can be curly, wavy, or straight. Eyes have no whites and are dark colored, usually the same color as their hair, with silver flecks in them. They do have pupils but they're hard to see in the rest of their eyes and their eyes are large for their face.
Clothing
Long sleeved, ankle length, high necked robes with a bare back for their wings, If their wings aren't out they usually wear a shawl in the same color. They tend towards dark blues/blacks but will wear any color except dark purple (royalty only). Formal robes are plain but daily robes can have embroidery or beading on them. They usually wear their hair up and under a white veil.
Jewelry is made of platinum and blue, black and (for royalty) purple gems. it's lacy and has celestial themes. The amount and fanciness of one's jewelry is a rank marker.
Magic
They are considered the most powerful magical species in general (although individuals from other species can be as powerful).
They have a strong connection with the stars and can channel their power to weave complex and long lasting spells.
With that said magic is much more difficult in Daylight. Yes the sun is a star but it's closeness actually means the power is overwhelming for them for the most part.
The complexity of their spells means that they cannot do magic quickly. They get around this by storing spells in their jewelry but if surprised they are pretty helpless if they don't have any spells prepared (they are well aware of this and don't ever count on this. Also some star daughters can use their father's people's magic where this weakness doesn't apply).
The one kind of magic they aren't good at is healing others, they're quite good at healing themselves however. Also a Daughter who's father's people have strong healing magic can work around this though.
Jewelry Making
They solely work with Star metal and Celestial Crystal, only they know how to find and work with these materials. This what they use for their jewelry mostly, although they have made other items with it. An item must be made of this metal for them to place their magic in it. They rarely give any to outsider and absolutely refuse to disclose how its made.
Music
They are known to be fantastic musicians in general. This is because is their secret language is sung or played on instruments (primarily the harp) not spoken. As such they use music as a major part of their magic and to communicate with the stars. They do not teach this language to outsiders.
Due to there never being more than a couple thousand at a time they only form one (small) Kingdom. Their main citadel is Ruled by a Queen and is where their children study, the vast majority live and work. With that said there are smaller citadels at different latitudes. These are for studying the stars at all angles and a place to send their people if something were to happen at the main citadel.
They have a strong sense of harmony and a loathing of discord. As such fights among them are rare... and all the more nasty on the rare occasion they happen. They love music, dancing and telling stories and most of their free time is spent at these pursuits. Their love of harmony and the small population means they don't really show much difference between them, personality wise, especially if one hasn't spent much time around them. Usually any personality quirks are considered from their father's bloodline.
